when i wrote that but in the second half Germany moved out to a ten point margin and held it most of the way. The US narrowed it late but couldn't get over the hump - Germany made a few plays in the last minute so the result was pretty clear.
ESPN write up focuses on the US's lack of height which is certainly valid HOWEVER that was what it was. Those were the players we had. The available variable was what we chose to DO with the players we had.
The answer appeared to me to be "not very much" - just let them play and hope our quickness would trump the opponent's height. But just throwing the guys you have out on the court and saying "go get 'em" really doesn't seem to me like much of an effective approach to coaching a team
