Expected value of a layup/dunk is 2pts times .9 (conversion rate) = 1.8 pts per attempt

Expected value of a3 is 3pts times .4 (being generous) = 1.2 pts per attempt

It's just simple math

And when it's crunch time, a middie (.7 x 2 = 1.4) is a good value.
