spurned us after almost having them sign on the dotted line? Don't remember exactly but I thought Dan had his own plan set and had Alford in the bag without talking to the experts first which ended up as a PR disaster from the start. It would have been better to cycle through the candidates, gotten refused by some and ended up with Cronin way back then.
So we did exactly what Kentucky did but just got lucky. I have a friend who is part of BBN who says after 12 hours of settling their emotions down, most of them are more happy that Cal is gone then the uninspiring hiring of Pope. Maybe Kentucky will get lucky as we did with Cronin although Pope has a lot less experience and post season success so we'll see. At least Rick Pitino thinks it's a good hire.
