This isn't about how well we will do against the Big-10 teams. It's only about bringing a highly rated team to Pauley for the season ticket holders who pay the big bucks for tickets and donations, not for the freeloaders like most here. None of these Big-10 teams have been national powers recently. Nobody is saying the Big-10 teams coming to Pauley won't be any good. I'm saying none were more than average to good teams last season and not projected to step up to being a top-10 type team this coming season.
You cited Purdue and Illinois going far in the NCAA tournament last season. Yes, they won eight tournament games between them. But the other 12 Big-10 teams won a total of two.
You cited Wisconsin. The lost to Arizona by 25 points last season. Will they be better this season? You claim to know more than the writers at ESPN and other sites who cover college basketball. You say look at their rosters and coaches. OK, here are the Big-10 coaches coming into Pauley this season:
Iowa - Fran McCaffery 14 years at the school, made seven NCAA tournaments and won four tournament games. Never finished higher than 3rd in conference.
Michigan - Dusty May - Built his entire reputation on one great season making F4 at FAU. Did nothing else before or after.
Minnesota - Ben Johnson - 41-54 career record.
Ohio state - Jake Diebler - First season as a head coach.
Penn State - Mike Rhoads - Never won an NCAA tournament game.
Wisconsin - Greg Gard - Took over for Bo Ryan who made two Final Fours the previous three seasons and made the Sweet 16 his first two years. Has won two NCAA tournament games in the seven season since then.
Michigan State - Tom Izzo - One of the best coaches in college basketball.
As much as you will hate to admit it, Mick Cronin has a better resume than all but Izzo. I know you're trolling as every topic results in you dissing Cronin and making more unsubstantiated claims than a certain presidential candidate. So end of discussion.
