Comparing incoming freshmen to transfers it's just not the same thing. The transfers bring immediate impacts on teams while freshmen (for the most part) are projects to varying degrees. There are a few freshmen who can come in and immediately contribute significantly and then a fare fewer that can come in and turn a program around - those kids are very rare.
But still, Khamenia appears to have good length (needs to get stronger), does a lot of things well, appears to be potentially a multi-positional player, appears to shoot well from all three levels, not overly athletic but moves well, and will probably be in college at least a few years.
I hope UCLA gets him. Even though he may not significantly contribute for a couple of years, he's the kind of kid that helps build a program in a sustaining manner and could very well develop into a very good college player. One never knows how a kid will evolve and develop, but he appears to have a lot of positive tools in his favor.
