The best players on the FF team were Campbell and Jaquez (both brought to UCLA by Alford). Juzang had a good tournament, but these other two were the reason we got as far as we did that year, and you know it.
We can go on and on about this, but the reality is that our most recent FF team was largely built by Alford. And Cronin's middling results since that year make clear that that's exactly what he's always been: an average coach who is undeserving of the UCLA job.
