I am not writing off this season, but it is looking more like the Sweet 16 is our ceiling.
This will be a unique off-season. Both a ton of 5th-year seniors and 4th-year seniors will exhaust their eligibility. That will be twice as many seniors as a normal off-season. As a result, there will be many-many programs in rebuild mode.
Meanwhile we will lose two players off a 14-player roster. Some others may transfer, but I suspect those will not be key rotation players. I don't see any obvious candidates to declare early for the NBA.
So I suspect that in a season where many teams are facing roster turmoil, we will be entering a season with a TON of stablity. We will have a bunch of players who know how Cronin wants them to play and they will have a season more of experience and maturity.
I think we will be good this season, but we could be a lot better next season. Adding Braden Burries wouldn't hurt, either.
