22 seconds several times in both slow motion and stop action and all I could make out in the various angles shown was a slap on the ball or the fingers of Andrews. I couldn't make out any contact with the forearm or any part of his arm. As far as I know, the hand is still considered part of the ball and not called a foul.
Two bad things happened on that play. First of all, the throw in should never be to a corner when a team is trying to trap a player. You are dead when you get the ball in the corner when two quick and desperate defenders are trapping you. When I saw him breaking to the corner I sensed it wouldn't be good. Secondly, Andrews didn't handle the input well. He should have immediately clamped on the ball with a very strong grip and and at the same time, pivoted turning his turned his shoulder away from the guy coming on the left so he couldn't easily reach in and slap the hand or ball (which bounced off of his knee out of bounds).
And then there was Andrews reaction. Just a look of shock, not a normal reaction of anger of feeling he was fouled. As a player, you know when you are fouled and in a critical situation like that, you just don't walk away like nothing happened. But with the video angles, quick movements, and sometimes a little blurry slow motion or stop action views, it is difficult to be 100% positive on any contact issue.
In these sort of things, and in reading the above posts, I guess we all see things a little differently and I have no problem with that. Anyway, it's past history now and I hope the Bruins learned something from it.
