Limited response because overall they all got sped up and did really weird and bad stuff.
But re: the throwaways, at least a couple of those were we had to rely on a freshman guard. And Mack is a sophomore - better at some things but the same kid at others. And lack of movement off the ball. We have one player who is terrific at moving without the ball - Stefanovic. His lack of quickness and flexibility put him behind the guys starting ahead of him but his movement without the ball stands out. On inbounds plays we are so much better off with him in the game. It's going to be a while before I can clear my head of the vision of seeing Perry holding the ball on the end line and looking, looking, looking for someone to be clear to throw it to and then launching one over everyone's head and out of bounds.
Ugly indeed but Perry had his best game of his college career so far last night - but he's still a freshman and he finds himself in situations with which he's not experienced. Mack lowers his head and tries to create and hopes the refs will bail him out. When they don't - and as they become more and more familiar with his act the number of times they do is going to continue to diminish just as it did last year in the Pac - it gets really ugly very fast. With Andrews and Clark fouling early and sitting on the bench a lot in the first half at least, that's where we were - replying on Perry and Mack.
