when Jones plays, opponents can work to isolate her in the paint. Only happens a few times a game but when it does, they score over her.
Perhaps the reason for her minutes is perimeter defense and familiarity with the team defense.
I don't know but while I like the team's front court rotations Jones can definitely drive you nuts with her occasional brain farts passing and taking bad shots. Very streaky for sure. Aarnisalo is excellent on offense but both she and Jones, our team Smurfs, can be vulnerable on defense. I wonder - just focusing on perimeter defense here, defending the three point line, is what causes Close to play Jones as much as she does. If so - if she's truly better than Aarnisalo at that as I THINK she is - I get it because you put Betts out there and add in just about any of our bigs beside her and opponents have to see their chances of upsetting us largely rest with shooting well from three point range
