he said some enteresting things post-game. He thought Iowa's quickness would make them not a good fit for Aday. And he subbed in Kyle for that final possession by Wisconsin because with Aday, he said, we challenge and recover but he didn't want to possibly give Wisconsin that opening, the recovery part, so he put in Kyle.
I'm taking that to mean he'd rather risk Wisconsin taking a long shot than letting them get an opening in the paint.
One of Mara's strengths is he's really good at hedging and still getting back underneath to contest a pass in there and a short attempt inside. But that takes time. Interesting coach think.
One other thing - Both mh and traprh said pre-game that Wisconsin's two bigs are not like Michigan's. One is strong and solid but not the most skilled and athletic while the other is skilled but not as physical.
As the season goes on, Mara and Kyle are developing to the point where we can handle that challenge. Remains to be seen if we can handle the challenge of a good team with a real bruiser in the paint.
Loved the game. Looking like DA is finally back; Mack actually pulled up for short jumpers a couple times; Clark had a good game out there. But our two bigs are still works in progress and when they aren't in there, we have no choice but to continuously look to double whenever they get the ball inside and that leaves us trying to defend the other four opponents with just three guys. Against a team that can whip the ball around and move without the ball as well as Wisconsin, that's a prescription for disaster any night their threes are going in. As was demonstrated for much of the first half last night.
Hope they are protecting our two centers on and off the court, 24/7
