SC has two guys who can really hurt an opponent. Both could take big advantage of having a Smurf trying to guard them. Kobe Johnson can't guard both Claude and the Saint at the same time.
The idea of seeing Claude isolating on Dylan or Skyy makes my eyes hurt.
If Tyler can play tonight, this is a matchup in which he could have more success at the five, at least a better chance of holding his own. (Aday's post-game comment about being surprised he didn't tire out playing 30 minutes at Washington do cause me to worry a bit about whether or not he can replicate that level of endurance, especially if Musselman pushes the speed of his team's game on offense.)
But assuming he can't go, Musselman has two possible effective strategies - A - iso Claude or St Thomas (nice vacation spot) on whoever has the short though quick defender on him (shooting over a defender more than half a foot shorter should be pretty nice for the taller guy - all he has to do is avoid getting it swiped bringing it up into shooting position) and/or get those big wings into the paint and hope to get Mara into quick foul trouble trying to both help out on the guy with the ball and still get back to cover his own man inside there.
The other element is how the refs are going to call the game - let them play (a boon to both SC's hopes to use physicality in the paint to move Mara/Kyle aside and even the odds in there and also to UCLA's Johnson and Mara at the defensive end) or to call it tight which may well be a real boon to "making the home crowd happy" (especially if Bilo can't go tonight).
