We really need to be a top 4 seed in the West to do well given our travel issues outside of the pacific time zone this year.
Also, UCLA is a different beast than those numbers indicate.
As an example (in the 64+ team era), I'm pretty sure we've always won the 1st game as an 8 seed, and have a 1-1 record vs. a #1 seed in the second round.
So, yeah, While I've long felt that being a 6 seed is optimal when not being a 1-3 seed if you think you can make a run (like we did as an 11 seed/play in team), we're UCLA and generally have the talent to win any game we play (not necessarily be favored, or even win most times against great teams), but if we put it together, we can beat just about any team in the country on a given day, the challenge is putting it together for 6 (or more) games.
