But here's the problem. It's a no-win situation. We joined the Big-10 to make more money, but it will cost more money to be competitive in this conference and probably never will be competitive in football. So because of mismanagement and increasing costs, the players and fans were sold out with inconvenient scheduling making it more difficult to win to make up for that.

This doesn't help anything but the department's bottom line and maybe not as much as they think. If they use the extra money to just pay off the debt, how does that help? The fans want wins and even with a supposedly attractive home conference schedule, we aren't drawing crowds. Now, instead of donating to the program, they want us to donate for NIL so they can pay high school players millions of dollars to play here. No thanks.

So would anyone here rather be a middling Big-10 team than a Pac-12 strong contender with a high seed in the NCAA tournament?
