just play harder. The best way to shut a trash talker is to out play him. I understand that it's a different era now, but I never trash talked any player. I played hard, never let up, always tried to win, respected my opponent, gave him my hand if he fell down, and win or lose always shook his hand afterward. As a coach I expected the same from my players. I never understood trash talking. I had it done to me a few times and I just thought it was silly. I remember once a guy tried to do it to me. After scoring on him four straight times he shut up and just played the game after that. I never said a word to him. Being mentally tough is part of successfully competing.
