I'd love to see us develop a second post option. We have options.
A second go-to post up player would allow us to run the same patterns when Betts is out, if that's what we want to do. And, Betts draws sooo much attention, that I'd like to see her move to the high post, carry all that attention with her. Drop another player into the low post, and maybe there's an easy pass from Betts to a lightly guarded post player. Or, Betts makes the "hockey assist" pass to someone who feeds the post.
Last night, Barker, Dugs, and Gardiner all had like one back-to-basket post-up opportunity. I'd rather pick one of them to be the second post option, rather than mixing it up.
On one of the recent broadcasts an announcer said that Barker had been an attack the rim post player at A&M. So, she would be a likely candidate. She had one post-up play last night that I recall, and looked good doing it. Maybe she'd be the first choice (earlier in the season, I was pushing for Gardiner. Someone mentioned Barker as being a better candidate. They were right, I was wrong).
