at the old Huff Gymnasium (the Illini's home court back then)on their campus in Champaign. Huff Gymnasium had the old metal fan shaped backboards---hated those as a side angle bank shot was very difficult.
Tonight's game is going to be tough as the Illini have been playing well in the last couple of games and now have their full squad back. With their front line of two 6-9 forwards, a 7'1 center, and a couple of good rebounding guards, they are one of the top rebounding teams in the country averaging near 50 a game. Also a decent defensive team. They average 85 ppg while holding opponents to 71 ppg.
I used to be a big Illinois fan in my younger days but when I discovered Wooden's Bruins in the early 60s, I became a huge Bruin fan after that and have remained so for the next 60+ years.
