That's a nice video site he has up and I just bookmarked it on my computer. I have a lot of the VHS tapes on some of those games but don't have a working VHS VCR anymore. I'd like to email him if he lives there--don't have his email address though. 3 of my 4 daughters were born in the military hospital there. Never saw an alien while there though :-)). I have some great memories from back in Roswell.
I was stationed there for 6 years (1959 to 1965) at Walker AFB when it was still an active SAC base. When off duty, I was player/coach of the Walker AFB base basketball team and also a member of the Roswell adult AAU team. One of our teammates on that AAU team in 1961 was Roger Staubach who was going to school at the time at the New Mexico Military Institute. The one memorial game I have from that AAU season was when we played Marques Haynes Harlem Magicians team in the NMMI gymnasium. Featured 3 of the original Globetrotters (Haynes, Josh Grider and Sam Wheeler). I believe Marques was around 50 at the time but he still was an amazing dribbler.
Not many people may know this but Roger was a great 3 sport athlete (baseball, basketball and football) who also could have been a major league baseball player (great catcher and hitter) but he elected to stay with football. We all know how that turned out after he left NM and later graduated from the Naval Academy. I became a big Dallas Cowboy fan later on when he took over at QB.
