I am one who has not watched the team play much but I was at the game last night. This point has probably already been made but SC has size to deal with Betts in Akunwafo, Marshall, and Iriafen. They were very physical with her last night sending double teams, especially late in the game. I don't recall her kicking to shooters that often. I would think that would be a strategy although they shot poorly from 3 point land (15%). She was attacking the basket unless there was an immediate double team. There were some opportunities missed to get her the ball in the low post in a good scoring position. Seemed like too much Kiki ball when USC went on that late run.
38, 11, 5, and 8 blocks is a crazy line for Juju. When they switched Jones on her, I thought she'd shoot right over her which she did only twice I think. The other defenders couldn't handle her. I think she was motivated as well after the Ohio State game where she was missing shots, turning the ball over, and just not really involved in the offense like she was last night. I think Gottlieb made some adjustments to get her more involved this game which ultimately paid off in the end.
