System patterns offer a number of options not a specific one. It's up to the players to be able to make "read and react" plays off of one of those options when a gap opens or a weak spot in the defense is seen. Unfortunately, you have to have players who are good at that type of system who can recognize the opening option and take advantage of it. Need really good guards and wings in that sort of offense.
