He wasn't remotely our best player in his Soph season, setting aside that he wasn't a Div 1 player in his Freshman yr.
So, an upperclassman Junior, after receiving little recognition in his underclassman seasons, is your can't-miss dominator in the bully ball low-blocks B10. A Junior that only you and his Mom consider walks on water. A cinch All-American, with a 120" shooting range who misses more D assignments than an ant hill has ants.
In your analysis, you're basically dismissing folks here, who follow the game closely, as know-nothings. In your perch in FantasyLand, there is nothing to separate Mara from being a premiere baller after being A Complete Unknown (apologies to Dylan) in his Frosh year, and a mixed bag with little national recognition in his Soph season. Now he's an upper classman and you deem him can't-miss, while rejecting any objective analysis of his actual play on the actual court as unworthy of your consideration.
Aday made remarkable progress in his sophomore season. Of course, by direct comparison, he was incapable of competing in his Frosh season. Sure, it's not impossible he could have been the best player on UCLA this season and, like you, I wish he would have stuck around, as I'm no dogmatic fan of CMC...............dogmatic in the sense that you've got Aday as an All-American with any and all arguments to the contrary meaningless in your prism.
