That's my guess as to the correct strategy, especially as UCLA lacks unlimited NIL resources. Recruit a few good specialist types, such as shooters, rebounders, defensive specialists, then hit the Portal hard for central figures like point guards, maybe posts. I would have thought Mara would have been a definite hang-on-to player but that his and Cronin's styles were ill-matched. But that "type" is what Cronin should be looking for in the Portal, but again, the player needs to fit Cronin's style of basketball as it seems that ain't gonna change.
