Yeah, I agree—the playing field definitely isn’t level. I recently read that North Carolina has spent around $14 million, which is staggering. But if you're a mid-major or even a school like Oregon State, how are you supposed to compete with that?

From where I sit, we've been trailing the top-tier programs for a while in terms of amenities and some other disadvantages. In a strange way, I almost appreciate that things are now out in the open. At least we’re all acknowledging what’s really driving a lot of this.

As for our team, I agree we have holes. Personally, I would have liked to see us land one more athletic, defensively focused wing, but that didn’t materialize. That said, if the reports are true and UNC spent $14 million, you have to ask—$14 million on what? They’re barely cracking the top 25 on most rankings. Meanwhile, UCLA is floating around the top 10 with what we brought back. So based on roster construction the pundits seem to think we're ok.

Of course, rankings aren't everything, and we all know that money alone doesn't guarantee championships. Just ask the Mets—who, ironically, might finally have a decent team this year.
