Coaches exactly like him, similar lack of ability to adjust to the strengths of available talent rather than insisting on a singular system regardless of outcome. Both are terrible offensive coaches. Neither could effectively develop big men. Both kept most players on very short leashes, yanking them from games often at the expense of the team just to flex their authority and make a point. Both throw their players under the bus when things go south.
Howland should have been let go sooner than he was. The program was headed in the wrong direction and it was very clear that he was not going to be able to right the ship.
