What I've been hearing is that there hopes he will start there. Maybe that works out or maybe not. At the time of his declaring to transfer it looked like Mara and Bilodeau would be sharing the bulk of the 5 minutes. It appears that Kyle wanted more minutes and had to go somewhere else.
If he had waited and Mara transferred then he might have considered staying if more minutes were promised. Maybe! Once Booker was recruited then Kyle wold probably be looking at the same initial situation with Booker replacing Mara in the pecking order.
If Cronin had committed first to Mara and Kyle getting the bulk of the minutes at the five and then Booker and Kyle then maybe he might have stayed. Maybe! I think that wasn't ever going to happen. My sense is that Cronin wasn't going to commit to Kyle, even as the primary sub at the 5. And if that was the case then Kyle's fate was sealed if he was determined to get more minutes.
Kyle has only one more season and it makes sense that he should gamble on himself and seek more minutes somewhere. If that wasn't going to happen at UCLA then he would need to go elsewhere. For him it would be best to go somewhere where he could at least be considered for a starters position. I think that's what Syracuse is looking for him to be that guy. Whether he can achieve that remains to be seen. I would have to think that Syracuse offered him something to come there and compete for a starting spot. Maybe you're right. Maybe he went there with no NIL money promised.
