ideal, but his hands were tied. He had no viable options. The best thing, in real time and trying to capture the moment, for the team was to put Bilodeau at the five. Making lemonade he cobbled the Bruins to a pretty good year and yet too many only can see what he didn't do. Mara represented the potential for the future, but a lot of his job is to coach for the moment and try to win as many games as possible.

Maybe some can argue that Mara was a better option and that's a legitimate argument, but there's only one guy sitting where the buck stops and, even though I disagree with his choice, he made IMO a legitimate valid choice that in his vision gave his team the best chance to win games. As it turned out the Bruins had an okay season relatively successful even if it wasn't up to most of our hopes or expectations. Like the previous year with all those international players he did IMO a good job and if he had made different choices it may have turned out worse.
