if Mara had stayed I think there was a good chance that Kyle would not have stayed. I think D. Williams was going no matter what. So with Mara being the only five perhaps Cronin would have still tried for Booker although if he came there would probably been a good chance that Mara would have left. So perhaps Cronin wouldn't have gone after Booker but he still would have needed more depth at the 5. So chances are he still would have gone after Jamerson and Peoples.
So as it stands Cronin has Booker, Jamerson, and Peoples instead of Mara, Jamerson, and Peoples. There can be made good arguments IMO as to whether the Bruins are better off with either combination. It remains to be seen how this will play out and whether Cronin will miss Mara or that Booker will end up being a blessing. The one thing I will say is that Cronin has been pretty spot on with the guys he's let go so far, but the difference here is that I don't think he really wanted to lose Mara. We'll see how this goes.
