Maybe in these times, to some degree, that's so, but progressive, efficient, and forward looking universities have people and an organization(s) in place to take care of that. I believe that's the case with UCLA. I think separating these functions (coaching and fund raising) might, in the end, be a better solution - get the right people who are good at what they do in the right places. Personally, I think athletes should be well compensated, but this, as it now stands, stinks.
