We watched the entire game on the Big 10 plus channel and he looked quicker and stronger than last year. I too wish he had stayed but since my wife's school is Michigan, we are happy to see him as a Wolverine. And after watching them beat #5 St Johns very good team, I can see why they are projected to be #2 behind Purdue. I believe Michigan may have a more physical team with more depth than Purdue.
From what I have seen of the Bruins at this point (two exhibition games) and with the 5 position being mostly a development project, I'd have to place the Bruins somewhere between 3 and 5 in the conference. If the bigs improve significantly, then I'd expect them to compete for the top spot in the conference.
I watch a lot of Big 10 games and and it seems that teams have to have strong rebounders with reliable physical defensive presence in the paint to consistently win in the Big 10. At this early point in the season, that seems to be the missing ingredient in the Bruin team makeup. Hopefully it improves by the start of conference play. l'm sure it will to some extent but will it be enough? No doubt that the Bruins have the other ingredients at the guard and forward positions to be a championship caliber team. Just need to get those bigs performing to Big 10 standards.
