You do try to maximize the scoring matchups of the 5 positions on the floor. As an aside, Magic Johnson being equally capable of bringing a matchup O edge in the low blocks and along the perimeter and elbows was..........gold.
The problem is Cronin has a pure vanilla halfcourt schema in which very few set plays are run. He's still trying to find individual mismatches but it's more a function of running weaves in the hopes of finding an open seam for a shot or spacing for a one-pass dime.
It's early this season, but still starkly illustrative that out of 355 Div 1 teams, the Micks are a disconcerting 238th in Scoring Offense and a far more ascendant (in CMC's wheelhouse) 91st in Scoring Defense. CMC's only other yr in the B10, full-yr 2024-25?:
a weak 162nd in Scoring O and a solid 22nd in Scoring D.
why some people here attempt to flip reality as to our relative strength/weakness in O & D is beyond me......
