We recently had a discussion about how often running the offense leads directly to baskets and how often players create their own shots. So I categorized the 28 UCLA baskets against Sacramento St. as follows:
A: Open or easy shots produced by running the offense;
B: Shots made within the context of the offense but are contested or take some extra skill to make;
C: Shots made outside the offense such as fast breaks, offensive rebounds, scramble situations after the offense breaks down, out of bounds plays or when a player creates his own shot.

About a quarter of the baskets were the direct result of running the offense and about half had nothing to do with it.
