Here is my honest and unbiased opinion of what I've seen of him this season. He just doesn't seem to be firing on all cylinders for whatever reason. Not quite the impact player that many fans expected. It will be interesting to see how he performs in the next 5 games as well as against the very physical and talented Big 10 teams.
He is not as physical as some of the better PGs I've seen on various teams this year nor does he seem to be a three point threat like many of the top PGs are. Only shot 33% from the three point line last year at UNM and even then, wasn't a high volume three point shooter. He has only made 1 three thus far in 6 games for the Bruins. He has always been more of of a catch and shoot guy rather than someone who could be closely guarded but still pull up and get his own.
Dent's top skill is his ability to get into the paint and hit an open man. That's a great skill for a PG. On the D end though, from what I've seen of him thus far, just an average defender. He is certainly an upgrade from what the Bruins had last year but not the superstar (thus far) that many of us expected. That may change as the season progresses and I believe it will be necessary if the Bruins are to finish in the top 3 in the conference.
