Coach Close has already talked about how difficult it was to schedule teams this year after making the Final Four.
Connecticut played Iowa on 12/20 but, otherwise, the other top-5 women's teams have had similarly weak December schedules.
LSU hasn't played anyone in the top-100 since their 12/4 game against Duke. They play #8 UK on New Year's day after warming up with #340 Bama State yesterday.
The best California team not in the B1G that UCLA could feasibly schedule is #34 Stanford. The only other schools in the top-100 are #56 Santa Clara and #59 Cal. With the demise of the Pac-12, alternating home and home series with the two erstwhile conference partners would be good for all involved.
Of course, it's so obvious, it's impossible to believe such a series hasn't already been proposed, and shot down, by somebody.
We already played SDSU and Santa Barbara. Maybe schedule them later in the non-conference "season".
