I was at the game, but finally today had a chance to watch the recording on my TiVo. A few observations and thoughts:
1. In the 1st Half, it was fun watching the reactions on the faces of some of the Northwestern bench players every time we -- especially Bilodeau -- made a shot. Seeing them react with frowns of disgust, disappointment, and frustration was pretty funny!
2. Trent Perry... He does well dribbling the ball with his left hand. But when he drives the left side of the key, dribbling with his left hand, and has defenders to his right, at the very last moment -- even while already jumping in the air to shoot -- he consistently shifts ball to his right hand to lay the ball in. I think it would serve him well to learn to lay that ball up and in with his left hand, while using his right arm/hand to fend off defenders
3. Dailey does many good things, including in this game where he displayed some superb rebounding and a few outstanding offensive moves. But too often he really does force shots when the smarter play would be to pass to a teammate. I think that Dailey's game is often a conflict between physical skills and good decision-making
4. Comment not specific to this game: WHY do the stupid networks show us the halftime stats (or even end-game stats) with the Field Goal Percentage shown AS a percentage, but the 3-point Field Goals shown as raw numbers?? At halftime of this game vs. Northwestern, they had a graphic that showed NW with 38% shooting, and UCLA with 62%. On the next line, "3-Pt Field Goals," it had 4/13 for NW, and 6/9 for UCLA. FFS, show us the damned percentage for both! (Yes, I can calculate the percentages, or approximate percentages, in my head, but why should I have to?) It's not just FS1; they all do it. /rant
