UConn is just so smooth and really strong on defense with three elite players. We have six but you only play five at a time and Geno is a master at what he's doing. Still, we do have a chance to take them down. South Carolina probably also. We have to play our best game to do it. But one game - Lauren needs to play under control and we need to be hitting our outside shots. And the game has to be called evenly - they can't be allowed to pound on Lauren without anything being called. UConn is what, two time defending NCs? They've earned their position.
But we present so many challenges to any opponent, including UConn. Gianna Kneepkens gives us a dimension we didn't really have a year ago. Gabriela Jaquez is playing brilliantly. Charlisse Leger-Walker is back at the top of her game and gives us so much more than the diminutive and inconsistent Londynn Jones did a year ago or our Euro freshman PG last season. And Kiki Rice is a dominant player. Lauren is a unicorn. And in Dugalic we have a 6'4" player who can hit threes and play offense and defense at all three levels.
I think we have to be given a chance to get it done.
Regardless, it's been a great season to this point and it's a great team. They have a chance but it's a great team no matter the outcome against another great team on the crest of a dynasty. I would never count our team out this season. Fingers crossed all the way
