The ladies obviously didn’t look ready to play at the start. Maybe it was Washington coming off a game last night, or maybe it was simply that the Bruins know how good they are and expected this one to be a bit of a walk-through. My guess is it was a little of both. In the long run, though, this might not be a bad thing. From here on out, every opponent is going to treat a game against them like it’s their last—because for many teams, it essentially will be.
During conference play I felt Washington gave the Bruins trouble because of their team speed, and it seemed to show up again here. That’s the kind of matchup that can be a little concerning when you start thinking about tournament scenarios.
I loved seeing Lauren go off. It reminded me that the Bruins still know where their bread is buttered when things get tight. She’s taken more of a back seat as a scorer this year, but when push comes to shove, and she gets a one-on-one opportunity, she’s still basically unstoppable. For those who were concerned about the 5 points she had against suc, Lauren let them know what she's all about.
