I know you all have been waiting on my expert analysis so I will share that with you now.
Yeah not a good night for AZ to say the least.
Honestly didnt know if they could win but definitely didnt see the cats getting worked like that with the most talented roster in the nation. I'd be lying if I said it wasnt disappointing or surprising. AZ justa week ago beat Purdue by 15 which beat Michigan only 2-3 weeks ago.
Dont like to make excuses but here goes just a couple things
1) All the LLoyd to UNC talk during the week didnt help. But you have to deal with it.
2) AZ had a very legit argument to being the overall #1 seed, meaning they perhaps are playing IL in the national semifinal and not MI, but then that just means MI waxes them in the national title game, maybe the only worse outcome than getting worked in the national semifinal.
MI is just really REALLY good. I never write off Uconn but they will need to play VERY VERY well to beat MI. Maybe the Lendeborg injury gives them some hope Ala Gil Arena's injury status vs dook in 2001.
Disappointed by the lack of defense by AZ tonite. I dont blame coach Lloyd, he was 36-2 coming into tonite in no worse than the 3rd best conference in america. Hoping he can learn from this and maybe change the offense to go more 3s - Mich made 12 3s, AZ 6, thats an 18 point difference in a game AZ lost by exactly that margin (I concede it wasnt really that close though). I am still glad TL is our coach and I believe it will not take another quarter century to return to the FF under his guidance.
Let me end on a pleasnt note - Hope your gurls can do it against "SC" 2moro. I watched a bit if their game against TX and they are gritty and came thru in the clutch. Obviously SC is no slouch either.
I hope if UCLA winS they play KD Perry's "california girls" to honor THEM. On the flip side, perhaps "Sweet Caroline".
Its ben a joy talking to MOST of you here and glad our schools still play each other in hoops. It is STILL the best rivalry in the west, I dont care what conference each plays in.
