Recently, I read a lot of commentary about those WBB teams that have lost most of their roster or most of their star players, like Tennessee or Texas. Most of these reports have noted the dysfunction or poor coach-team dynamics and that has led to an exodus of talent. And these reports contradict what we have seen with this class at UCLA. I've seen ten or twenty commentaries that have noted that how tight this UCLA team is, both amongst the players and the coaching staff. The players always refer to each other as family and several commentators have noted how Cori Close respects and values each player, not for their basketball skill, but as a person. And I've seen the respect that other coaches and WNBA players who have podcasts have shown to Coach Close and the they all say she is a great human being.
I can't help but think that the culture Cori Close and the staff has developed here at UCLA bodes well for us in the future. Winning with integrity and respect.
