There's no evidence that Duke or Kansas ever offered (or even had contact with) this guy. So stop it. I suppose it gives you some kind of reassurance to pretend that good programs want him too, but is it really necessary? We're UCLA. We're better than that.
And Mick is definitely trying to fill a hole. His poor roster management and lack of foresight are lowering the program's ceiling year after year after year.
Also, I hope that Michigan or Gonzaga or whoever gets him. He's not worth this kind of money, and I'd rather it be someone other than UCLA who finds this out the hard way.
On the other hand, I also want us to hire a real coach, and if this decision seals Cronin's fate, I'm all for it.
