If you are a coach with a multi-million dollar salary, you are highly motivated to win at any cost. If you want to keep your job and get incentive payments, you want the best talent. You want to raise as much NIL money as you can.
BTW, it was only 2 years ago the people were shocked when Washington paid $1 million for Great Osobor. How quickly the landscape has changed. Now players coming off the bench are getting more than that.
Bottom line is that since the bulk of the money isn't coming from the university coffers or the coach's pocket, the price is always worth it.
The only question is whether it is worth it to the booster or boosters who are footing the bill.
