Muse was disruptive on D. But, dang, third year in the program and she contributes nothing on O. She missed some clean looks.
Bilic, from what I read, has only been with the team for four days. Maybe she's got a lot more to offer than what she showed.
Hard to tell, but it looks like CCC is going to play 6'1.5 Brown closer to the basket, 6'3 Bilic further away. I don't like that choice, I posted my statistical reasoning (other than their heights) as while back. But, it's CCC's call and let's just say the only ring I have is around my bathtub.
No one on the team besides Betts is particularly adept at scoring. And, Betts will get a steady diet of double and triple teams. Getting Timea back will help. She did not do well against double teams, and to be fair, a lot of time she was defended by 6'1" Parchment. I never saw Parchment play post defense at Illinois last season.
Wildly speculating, which is my wont, I wonder if Betts would do better if we played her more as a 4. Play Gardiner or Muse in the post to keep the other team honest, and then get Sienna the ball 8-10 feet from the basket and let her do her moves. Maybe she'd get more space?
Aarnisalo is a bit of a scorer. She when there is a crack of an opening she can do the Kiki drive to the basket thing, though I don't think she can score with her off hand like Kiki. And, she's got a nice stroke from three. Speaking of threes, we hardly created any open looks. Most everything was rushed/defended.
Deas is exciting. On a roster that looks like it has a whole lot of scrappy, she's the scrappiest one of all.
With our plethora of defense minded smalls, I wonder if we'll press some. Or, if we'll press a lot?
Betts had to be exhausted. She was our only post presence, she played a whole lot of minutes, they played with a 24 second shot, and there weren't the myriad time outs you get in ..... well anything in the US.
Question: KK Bransford? She was our last transfer in. I haven't heard a word about her. Anyone know anything?
