Agree. In the past, WNBA players have earned the majority of their income from off-season play in Europe and other areas. The WNBA is paying much more now but it sounds like Gianna is looking to work in the off season. Last year, the final WNBA Finals game was on October 10. The Tasmania team has its first game on October 15 so there should be no conflict. The Sun are not going to make the finals anyway.
I am not sure whether Gianna's contract requires team permission to play overseas. There seems to be no problem with players playing in the Unrivaled league which starts in January. Gianna has fallen out of Connecticut's rotation, playing less than 5 minutes a game lately, so my guess is that the team would welcome her working on her game in a structured setting where she will get regular playing time.
