Ben Howland would have never done a true home-and-home with San Diego State.
San Diego State has been begging UCLA for a true home-and-home, and UCLA has refused. Now San Diego State gets their wishes. Is this more of UCLA bowing down to SDSU or more of SDSU finally getting their wish?
I am quite certain that we will never see another home-and-home with a true power house outside of pacific or mountain time zone under Mick Cronin. He wants to travel as little as possible in the non-conference season. But there are just not that many good-quality opponents in the west coast, and Mick Cronin may run out of schools to schedule home-and-home with soon. San Diego State has been a solid program in recent years but they just don't carry the same prestige like a true blueblood school. Only Gonzaga and Arizona are at that level (in terms of status) in the west coast.
