He quit on his team. Why did he do this? Apparently UCLA was not displeased with the culture he built. They hired one of his assistants and wanted to keep the roster intact. Money is a huge issue apparently, so they were reluctant to buy him out.
Why leave, then, and take a massive pay cut? Because of a couple of meanies on the message boards?
It's because Chip knows we are winning 2-3 games next year, and he would never be able to salvage what's left of his coaching reputation. So the guy flat out quit, and spread the narrative that it was UCLA that failed him.
