we had our top 3, maybe top four*, miss games this past season from in-game injuries. It could be worse in the Big10. Our pass-protection was realllly bad. After one of the games, Wayne and Matt were saying Garbers (as, he was the one that got injured that game) needs to give up on plays more quickly. That's a hard thing to learn to do, and if you do, the "Chris Everett" idiots are going to come after you. Which can't be fun for a college kid.
I'm a big Garbers fan, but I think, for the sake of Garbers' preservation, we should incorporate at least a series per game where Schlee runs the show. More if it's working. And tell Schlee he's responsible for terminating the play. Get down or get out of bounds.
To contradict myself, I'd like to see Schlee's versatility used more. The man can run. Line him up in the slot or in the backfield and get him the ball.
