You're using a single factor to explain attendance over many regimes. Attendance figures are not due to a single factor, and the coach is among the least important of all. I've listed some of them in my previous post but I didn't include pricing which might be among the most important factors of all.

In 2014, the year you mention, the home schedule included ranked Oregon, Arizona and Usc, games with over 80,000 each with no pro football in town. By contrast, 2023 had one ranked opponent on the home schedule.

Choosing to fixate on a single factor reflects the confirmation bias rampant on this board, which is to say "I am told to dislike Chip so I will now find evidence that he is responsible for everything bad and interpret reality through this single point of view". You're being played like a fiddle.

Your business analysis suffers from the same myopia. Chip is assigned 100% of the damage you calculate rather fancifully.

Jarmond's job is to fill the stadium. Does he ever innovate? Does he ever drop prices, schedule exciting opponents or do anything to create interest? Nope. He schedule North Carolina Central because his mom went there and then puts that game on at 11am PDT.

Leaning on the coach alibi is weak minded thinking. We can do better, and we should demand more from Morgan Center. We need better leaders especially now in the newly free market of college football. The standard issue government bureaucrats won't cut it. They'll just keep churning out government program results. Better get used to it for now.
