... with being a good football coach?

Was bellycheck buddy buddy with the media?

Was nick Satan buddy buddy with the media?

I don't think so. And their "relationship" with the media was irrelevant when it came to their ability to coach football.

I think football coaches are like icebergs. 90% of their mass/work is below the surface and outside the line of sight. How well they organize practices is so much more important than the 8 minutes they spend a week answering the media's banal questions about...*checks notes*... who's hurt and who's not. FML. I would go mad, too.

Ultimately, we can only judge a coach by the people who play for him and coach with him.

Do they stay out of trouble?

Are they well-spoken?

Do they achieve in the classroom?

Do they get bigger, stronger, faster?

Do they get better as football players over time?

Do they have success in the field? Ws and Ls are one measure, but % of time they successfully complete their assignments per game is important, too. The 1st football commandment is, "Do your fvcking job". Everything in football, as in a Spartan phalanx, depends on you doing your job and the guy next to you doing his. Don't worry about me. You worry about you. I'll worry about me. And we'll see who plays better. If we both play great, we'll probably win the game.

If a coach molds a bunch of no-nonsense warriors, and they get shots too be on nfl teams, that's a win to me.
