You have just posted a wonderful example of "word salad", statements formed into sentences with words, even some big words, but void of meaning. To sum, you might've just shortened your post to: I don't care, you're a troll.

The topic of stars' predictive value is interesting, even if you brought it up by accident. The stars generally have no predictive value except or the 20 - 30 5 stars awarded each year to JV prospects. History has shown that the title winner and runner-up is heavily stocked with them. So, I have always allowed that 5 star recruiting matters, but it must be consistent so that a given team will have half or most of its starters drawn from the 5 star rank. Plucking an occasional 5 star provides no signal.
The portal changes things. Transfers don't fit into the old star framework of JV recruiting. A three-year D-1 starter transfer at OT may have been a 3-star in HS, but how do we evaluate him now? How to evaluate Michael Penix when he lands at Washington?
For now, the PR monsters at 247 have transmogrified their dumb JV star system to include transfers, but we can see this is fake. It fits less well with transfers than it does with JV players.
I'm re-evaluating what I think about the star system. The 3 and 4-star ranks mean nothing still, the 5-stars still matter but have probably lost a ton of predictive value due to dilution by transfers. I'm leaning toward rendering the entire star system meaningless, but want to see a few more seasons first. The rankings are pure mind-junk.
