My UCLA ride in the late '60s was a Vespa; but that didn't keep me from being able to put it on the tarmac of Wilshire Blvd one time. Hit a pot-hole while waving one arm at a buddy going the opposite way. We were to meet for a T-J trip; I had a skinned elbow, we cleaned it, put on a bandage and went across the border anyway. (The city bus behind me was able to stop in time!! Be safe on those long rides!
