DMV is synonymous with incompetence.

You don't go there anymore because in person service was an impossibility for them to deliver due to their government services incompetence. So, you now do everything yourself online better than the DMV itself could ever do. You're just interacting with software.

The employees of the DMV are no longer in providing service to you so are now thoroughly redundant. They have no function. Yet, there are still 10,000 of them as there were before the online modality arose. Those 10,000 workers cost you about $112,000 a piece per year, yet they do nothing of any value any longer. And because they're pensioned and receive lifetime healthcare benefits, they'll be costing you dearly for the rest of your life and their lives.

So, rather than reduce the DMV function to app hosted at AWS or Azure and disbanding the 10,000 strong workforce, the DMV government services mentality insists these workers keep their jobs even though they perform no economic function. This is the USPS also. You, presumably a taxpayer and definitely a fee-payer, end up transferring your wealth to these people who provide nothing to you or society at large.

This is what Ucla and most other "universities" have clearly morphed into. They are large government services organizations who create social welfare and very little else. Ucla has an employee for every two students. That's a social welfare program.
